Beginner Node-RED tutorial shows how to use an API to turn on and off lights based on sunrise and sunset times. This video explains how to use Node-RED to make a RESTful API call to the Weather Underground cloud service and use the return data to drive a real-world industrial I/O control system. This is just one example to show you how you can link API's to your physical I/O. Would be awesome if someone could help me :-D Use Case: Sensor detects movement and sends E-Mail and / or turns lights on How do get information from sensors into node red? Which node and how to config it? I have a Multisensor 6 from aeotec using z-wave. + at the moment the Sensor and Z-Wave controller are plugged into my computers usb ports + node Red is running on localhost 127.0.0.1:1880 //in openHAB it was finding out the path within the operating system (e.g. /dev/tty.usbmodem1417 ) and putting this into the openHAB z-wave controller config section  PLS help...  Thanks to anyone reading this ;-)

Thanks for this. I have been using homeassistant to try to automate a dumb AC (without a timer or thermostat) but I can't figure out yaml for some reason. already I think I've gotten further in node-red in part because of your videos. This is a good part of what I need. Do you know how to pull a 1-wire temperature sensor from a raspberry pi into node-red?
